Incorporating Climate Change into Official Plans (OPs) allows municipalities to identify actions that will be undertaken to mitigate GHG emissions and increase resilience to climate change impacts. This workshop discussed the degree to which climate change can be integrated in OPs, how climate change implementation is supported through other municipal plans, and how climate change considerations in those plans relate back to OPs. We gathered input from municipal planners and sustainability teams about the pros and cons of climate integration and approaches being used by municipalities in updating their OPs to incorporate climate change. The workshop featured a presentation from Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) on their up-coming training programs, events and resources.
