Declaration on Climate Change
The Declaration on Climate Change serves as the work plan for the CAC. The Declaration identifies common priority areas for collaborative actions and is aligned with Ontario’s four-year municipal election cycle. At the start of each council term, member municipalities identify their priority environmental actions. The most common and high-priority actions become Declaration commitments until the next council term. For each Declaration item, targets are set, and results are tracked via the Climate Policy Database to show progress toward achieving Declaration goals.
The CAC tracks all the climate policies and actions implemented by the member municipalities. The climate policies can be viewed in the Climate Policy Database, and the implemented climate mitigation actions can be viewed in the Climate Action Atlas below:
Climate Policy Database
The Climate Policy Database is a live document hosted on the Clean Air Council website. This database showcases municipal plans and policies related to climate change developed by the Clean Air Council member municipalities. It supports municipalities to add climate accountability to municipal decisions.
Climate Action Atlas
The Climate Action Atlas is a live tool hosted on the Clean Air Partnership website. It showcases municipal climate mitigation actions implemented by the CAC members and inspires municipalities and communities to take up new and creative approaches to reduce the severity of climate change and build a more equitable and resilient society.
