For the most part, climate change actions have focused on addressing operational carbon resulting from a building’s energy use. As transparency in the supply chain of materials improves, more and more opportunities are finally emerging to bring embodied carbon into decision-making. Embodied carbon factors in the carbon emissions resulting from the raw materials, manufacturing and transportation associated with building materials and supplies. Municipalities have been keen to understand how embodied carbon is calculated, how the supply chain is increasing transparency and tools that can enable embodied carbon to be more easily factored into building decisions. During this webinar, Nicole Granath from Tangible shared information on the state of embodied carbon considerations and their tool for streamlining and simplifying the tracking and management of embodied carbon across the building sector.
