This webinar is part of the Climate Governance, Accountability, and Implementation Series.
In this third webinar of the series, Amanda Burke and Dawn Smith shared experiences from the City of Calgary’s Climate Governance and Reporting Team and how the City has evolved its climate governance processes and structures since the approval of its updated Climate Strategy: Pathways to 2050. Amanda and Dawn talked about the evolution of Calgary’s public oversight committees, which provide advice and support on climate action in Calgary. We learned more about the City’s efforts to improve accountability and transparency on its progress toward its climate goals.
They also highlighted the benefits of having an advisory group to support the implementation of their climate projects, as well as why resilience/adaptation teams are structured differently than mitigation teams and how the City increases the desire to work on climate among staff across departments.
