Buildings are the third-largest source of emissions in Ontario, accounting for 24% of the total emissions. Building emissions arise mainly from burning fossil fuels for space and water heating. To achieve net zero emissions by 2040, our communities must eliminate fossil fuels in their homes by switching to cleaner energy sources and making these homes energy efficient. Every community member can contribute to fighting against climate change – and it all starts from your home!
Some inspiring GTHA residents are already taking the lead to make their lifestyles fossil-fuel-free! In this webinar, Rajko Jakovic’s decarbonization journey inspired us to fight climate change. Rajko Jakovic is an architect and Toronto resident who recently renovated his 100-year-old house, installing an air source heat pump and making his home solar-ready.
