Toronto’s homes and buildings account for 57 percent of the city’s total emissions. These emissions arise mainly from burning fossil fuels for space and water heating. To achieve net zero emissions by 2040, our communities must eliminate the use of fossil fuels and switch to cleaner energy sources such as electricity and renewable energy. Some inspiring Torontonians are taking the lead to make their homes fossil-fuel free!
This webinar featured Toronto’s City Councillor Mike Layton, who talked about his family’s journey to get their home to net zero. Mike shared information about the technologies used, incentives available, and lessons learnt from the Layton family’s switch to renewable energy sources.
