Community Climate Adaptation Plan improves Waterloo Region's resilience to extreme weather and climate change impacts through increased local adaptive capacity and collaboration among community stakeholders.
|Community Emissions Reduction/ Mitigation Plan|
TransformWR is Waterloo Region’s community-wide response to the global climate crisis. The document outlines Waterloo Region's long-term strategy to achieve an 80% local greenhouse gas emission (GHG) reduction target (based on 2010 levels), and identifies local action needed to reduce our emissions by 30% by the year 2030. Community Energy Investment Strategy aims to improve and sustain Waterloo Region’s economic competitiveness and quality of life through the coordination of targeted energy investments.

TranformWR, Action 2.1.1 sets a goal for the Region to develop a region-wide electric vehicle strategy.
|Community GHG Reduction Targets|
The Region of Waterloo and all seven lower-tier municipalities endorsed TransformWR. in 2021, setting the community’s pathway to 80% GHG emissions reduction by 2050.
|Complete Streets Policy|
Moving Forward Transportation Master Plan, 2019, has a Complete Street Recommendations section. Additionally, Council adopted the Regional Official Plan amendment to include 15-minutes communities.
|Green Development Policies (GDS)- Community|
The Region is committed to work with lower-tier municipalities to develop a regional GDS.
|Municipal Fleet Electrification Plan|
Waterloo Region Transition to a Low Carbon Community Action 2.1.2 sets a goal for the Region to plan and implement a transition to zero-emission vehicles for municipal fleets, working towards a goal of at least half of municipal vehicles being zero-emissions by 2030.

Regional Forest Management Plan consists of several elements or modules including: 1. Provides a general overview of forest management as it applies to the Regional Forests; 2. Presents the philosophical and policy approach being taken; discusses forest and property management issues; 3. Provides general information about the overall Regional Forest system; articulates the goals and objectives to be pursued over the term of the plan; and 4. Provides guiding principles and operating guidelines for all management activities.
